Located in the heart of Midtown in Jackson, Mississippi, lies an unassuming building. From the outside you would never know a literary paradise awaits you. Welcome to Coffee Prose.
The recently opened coffee shop hosts books donated from members of the community. It is situated next to both Belhaven University and Millsaps College, so a shortage of books is unlikely.
Their menu is made up of literary puns and they offer a selection of unique baked goods. “Pothole cupcakes” stood out to me last time I stopped by- sure to get a smile from anyone who has ever driven through the streets of Jackson.
I ordered the iced Mad Hatter (hazelnut and white chocolate) with almond milk and it was fantastic. They don’t offer soy milk quite yet- but I was happy to see they have almond milk as an option!
Books line each wall to offer a cozy atmosphere where one could spend hours working, studying or catching up with friends. Their employees are also very courteous which makes the experience that much better.
Another perk is that they’re open on Sundays- a rarity in the Fondren area. They also offer outdoor seating for those who want to enjoy the fresh air. Check them out!
Monday-Saturday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
